INGREDIENTS:

  • CHAALA MEEN(SARDINES) - 10 NOS
  • OIL - AS REQUIRED
  • TAMARIND - A LEMON SIZE
  • SMALL ONION/SHALLOTS - 8 TO 10 NOS
  • GARLIC CLOVES - 5 TO 10 NOS
  • CURRY LEAVES - A HANDFUL


FOR ROASTING AND GRINDING:

  • SMALL ONION/SHALLOTS - 3 TO 5 NOS
  • GARLIC CLOVES - 5 TO 10 NOS
  • CURRY LEAVES - A HANDFUL
  • COCONUT - 2 CUPS
  • DRY RED CHILLY - 4 TO 5 NOS
  • CORIANDER SEEDS - 2 TSP
  • PEPPER - 1 TSP


PREPARATION:

  1. CLEAN THE FISH PIECES BY REMOVING HEAD AND TAIL AND COAT IT WITH TURMERIC POWDER.
  2. DRY ROAST THE INGREDIENTS GIVEN FOR ROASTING AND GRIND IT SMOOTH BY ADDING WATER.
  3. TAKE A PAN, ADD OIL TO IT. ADD THE GRINDED MASALA.
  4. ADD TAMARIND WATER TO IT AND LET IT BOIL.
  5. ADD SHALLOTS, GARLIC CLOVES AND CURRY LEAVES.
  6. THEN ADD THE FISH PIECES TO IT AND LET IT COOK FOR 15 - 20 MINS UNTIL OIL SEPARATES.
